Based in the historic port city of Izmir, Turkey, Varuna Ship Agency & Maritime Services Inc functions as a specialized maritime service provider with a strategic focus on the Turkish shipping sector. Established in 2016, the company was founded on decades of industry experience, with leadership rooted in diverse maritime disciplines ranging from ship supply and repair to recycling and agency operations. This background has allowed the firm to develop a service portfolio that extends beyond standard vessel clearance, integrating technical support and logistical solutions for vessels calling at Turkish ports or transiting the region’s critical waterways.
A central component of the company’s operations is its role as a shipyard and repair yard agent. Turkey is a major global hub for ship repair and dry-docking, particularly in the Yalova and Tuzla regions. Varuna Ship Agency & Maritime Services Inc supports vessels undergoing maintenance in these areas, acting as a liaison between shipowners and technical facilities. Their involvement ensures that the complex requirements of dry-docking—such as spare parts logistics, technician access, and regulatory compliance—are managed efficiently to minimize downtime.
In addition to technical support, the company provides comprehensive port agency services across all Turkish ports and straits. Its teams manage the intricate transit procedures for the Istanbul Bosphorus and Canakkale Dardanelles, two of the world’s most congested and strategic maritime chokepoints. By coordinating traffic, securing necessary permits, and handling customs formalities, the agency facilitates the smooth passage of merchant vessels moving between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
The company also caters to specific niche markets within the industry. It provides offshore agency services tailored to support vessels engaged in energy and exploration activities within Turkey’s maritime zones. Furthermore, the firm offers protective agency services to safeguard shipowners' interests during complex cargo operations or disputes. Its capabilities extend to crew change logistics, ensuring the safe rotation of seafarers, as well as consultancy services related to ship sale and purchase and green ship recycling. Operating under strict international quality and safety standards, Varuna Ship Agency & Maritime Services Inc maintains a certified management system that underscores its commitment to environmental responsibility and operational excellence in the Eastern Mediterranean.
