Adriadiesel d.d.

Based in Karlovac, Croatia, Adriadiesel d.d. operates as a prominent industrial manufacturer specializing in the production of diesel engines and power generation equipment. The company is the direct successor to the Diesel Engine Factory of the former industrial conglomerate Jugoturbina, a lineage that dates back to the facility's establishment in 1949. Since rebranding in 1991, the firm has maintained its status as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), serving the global maritime, offshore, and stationary power markets with heavy-duty propulsion and auxiliary solutions. The company’s identity within the maritime sector is defined by its extensive history of licensed production. For nearly half a century, the factory manufactured four-stroke diesel engines under a license from Sulzer, delivering over a thousand units that powered merchant vessels worldwide. Although the formal licensing agreement with Sulzer concluded in the late 1990s, Adriadiesel remains a vital resource for the maritime industry by manufacturing high-quality replacement parts and providing technical support for these legacy engines. Following the Sulzer era, the company entered into licensing agreements with MAN Energy Solutions (formerly MAN Diesel SE), enabling the production of modern marine generating sets and propulsion units that meet contemporary shipping standards. Beyond licensed manufacturing, Adriadiesel produces its own proprietary engine model, the ADRIA-40. This medium-speed, four-stroke engine is designed to function as a robust main propulsion unit for smaller vessels or as a reliable auxiliary generator for larger ships. The Karlovac facility is fully equipped to handle the entire production cycle, featuring large-scale machining workshops, heat treatment plants, and specialized test beds where engines are rigorously trialed before delivery. In addition to manufacturing, the company plays a critical role in vessel maintenance. Adriadiesel deploys expert technical teams globally to perform overhauls, troubleshooting, and repairs on marine engines, often collaborating with shipyards to execute complex service projects during dry-docking. Their engineering precision is further evidenced by their ability to supply emergency power generators for nuclear facilities, a sector requiring the highest levels of reliability. Today, Adriadiesel exports its technology and services to over 50 countries, ensuring the operational continuity of fleets ranging from cargo carriers to specialized offshore vessels.
