Westcon Yards

Westcon Yards Olen is the main base of the Westcon group, a family-owned Norwegian business, at Olensvag in Vindafjord. The main line of work is the repair and modification of ships and rigs, and the yard also builds new vessels. It is an ISPS-approved port. Two floating docks are in use, lifting 1,300 and 7,600 tonnes, the larger with a thruster well. Seven quays serve the yard, one of them kept for internal use. Water depth at the three main quays is 21 metres, enough for three semi-submersibles to lie alongside at once, and there are foundations for jack-up rigs. Quay cranes reach 160 tonnes: one lifts 40 tonnes at a 26-metre radius and 5 tonnes at 46 metres, and two lift 160 tonnes at 9 metres and 20 tonnes at 85 metres. Covered facilities comprise a multipurpose hall of 5,000 square metres with a 20-metre hook height, used for subsea work and overhaul, workshop work and pipe bending; an environment station of 4,000 square metres for sandblasting, painting, maintenance and waste handling; and a steel hall of 2,300 square metres. The site has 512 accommodation rooms, a canteen serving 2,500 people a day and a customer office for 200. Newbuilding covers offshore vessels, ferries and fishing boats, with electrical design, automation, design and engineering, and battery and hydrogen systems handled in house. The pelagic trawler MS Quantus, 76 metres long with a maximum beam of 15.8 metres, was delivered from Olensvag in 2026 to M.V. Quantus Limited and Peter and J. Johnstone Limited and sailed to its home port in Scotland. The group's management system is certified to NS-EN ISO 9001:2015, NS-EN ISO 3834-2:2021, NS-EN ISO 14001:2015 and NS-EN ISO 45001:2023.
