Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. builds and repairs ships at its Tsuneishi factory in Numakuma-cho, Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture. This entry covers that home yard alone: the group's Zhoushan yard in China and Tsuneishi Heavy Industries in Cebu are separate operations, and Kure Dock, Miho, Yura, Tokyo Bay and the Akishima research institute are sister companies whose facilities are not counted here. The site covers 432,378 square metres. Newbuilding runs from one building dock and one building berth. Three 400-tonne jib cranes and one of 40 tonnes serve the dock; two of 400 tonnes and two of 150 tonnes serve the berth. Four outfitting quays finish the vessels. Repair is a business in its own right rather than spare capacity: four docks are used only for repair, with seven repair wharves, and vessels of up to 200,000 deadweight tonnes can be docked. The work covers periodical survey, general repair, large-scale conversion and ballast water treatment system retrofits. Newbuilding output is led by bulk carriers, in the Kamsarmax and Wide Kamsarmax types and the TESS series, alongside an LR1 oil and chemical tanker, container carriers between 1,091 and 2,806 TEU, and the cruise ship Guntu. As of 1 January 2026 the factory employed 847 people including its Tokyo office, working alongside 1,098 employees of partner companies.
