Tampa Ship, LLC

Tampa Ship, LLC runs a 62-acre repair and conversion yard on the Sparkman Channel in Tampa, Florida. It is a member of the Chouest family of companies. The channel is maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers at 43 feet deep and 500 feet wide with a 700-foot turning basin, and air draft is limited to 175 feet by the Skyway Bridge. Four graving docks are in use, the fourth divided into two chambers. Docks 1 and 2 are worked for repair and conversion, docks 3 and 4 for new construction as well. Vessels of up to about 900 feet are taken, on 24 feet of draft at that length or 28 feet up to 746 feet. Seven berths serve repair and outfitting. A covered erection building 600 feet long, 145 feet wide and 115 feet high handles lifts of up to 880 tons. Dockside cranes reach 85 tons at 60 feet of radius, and the heaviest single hooks in the yard are of 180, 155 and 115 tons. The work is conversion, general repair and overhaul, with lengthening, repowering, life extension and mission upgrades named as specialisms; fully outfitted modular assemblies are within the yard's experience. Vessels handled include product tankers, container ships, general cargo vessels, drill ships and rigs, offshore supply vessels, bulk carriers, passenger and cruise ships, LPG and LNG carriers and reefer ships. New construction is offered, but no delivered newbuilding, customer or project is published.
