Shiprepair Yard Nauta

Shiprepair Yard Nauta has worked at Gdynia since 7 October 1926. Its business is the repair and conversion of merchant vessels, together with defence work and the conversion of oil and gas drilling rigs, and it completes more than 140 projects in a normal year. The yard runs around the clock, every day of the year. Docking is split between a graving dock and three floating docks, so vessels of very different sizes can be in hand at the same time. Lifting is served by 19 cranes of up to 80 tonnes each and by a gantry crane of 500 tonnes, which is what allows heavy prefabricated sections and large machinery items to be handled ashore rather than in place. Steel, mechanical and electrical work, conversion and retrofit, and design and engineering are all held in house. Surface preparation uses hydroblasting at pressures up to 2,500 bar. Retrofit work includes the installation of exhaust gas cleaning systems and ballast water treatment systems.
