Sedef Shipyard

Sedef Shipyard, registered as Sedef Gemi Insaati A.S., is a Turkish yard at Tuzla on the Istanbul shore of the Sea of Marmara, with a second site at Orhanli. It belongs to Turkon Holding, owned by the Kalkavan family. The yard employs more than 2,000 people and works about 100,000 tonnes of steel a year. Covered production space runs to 51,000 square metres at Tuzla and a further 12,000 square metres at Orhanli. Building is done in a graving dock and on a semi-wet building berth, and ship repair is carried out alongside newbuilding.
