Riga Shipyard

Riga Shipyard, the Latvian company AS Rigas kugu buvetava, has worked at Riga since 1913. Its lines are ship repair, conversion and newbuilding, and its published customer base is Scandinavian and wider European. Newbuilding restarted in 1997. More than 150 hulls have been built and delivered since, some of them with partial outfitting, among them two ice-class turnkey tugboats for the Freeport of Riga. Hulls rather than finished vessels are the bulk of that output, which is worth knowing before enquiring: the operator's own portfolio files the fishing vessels Alannah Riley, Stefanie and Patrick C under fishing vessels, but Patrick C is filed as a hull as well. One delivery sits outside the usual vessel categories altogether, the Penguin wave energy converter. Repair and conversion run alongside the newbuilding line, in floating docks.
