PT ASL Shipyard Indonesia

PT ASL Shipyard Indonesia operates the Batam yard of ASL Marine Holdings at Tanjung Uncang on the Indonesian island of Batam. The group is Singaporean, incorporated on 4 October 2000 and listed on the Singapore Exchange since March 2003; the name ASL Shipyard belongs to a separate Singapore entity, ASL Shipyard Pte Ltd, which is the group's technical, engineering, logistics and procurement base. The Batam land was bought as leasehold in 1996, when PT ASL Shipyard Indonesia was incorporated. The Batam yard covers 46 hectares and has three graving docks with a combined docking capacity of more than 300,000 tonnes deadweight, together with a floating dock, finger piers and multi-purpose workshops. One graving dock came into use in 2006 and two more in 2008, and a floating dock of 5,000 tonnes lifting capacity has been in service since 2005. Newbuilding covers specialised and niche vessels, chiefly dredgers, tugs, barges and tankers, and extends to hybrid, electric and low emission designs. Repair and conversion covers retrofitting and conversion, steel renewal, blasting and painting and electrical, electronic and mechanical work, for the repair and life extension of a range of vessel types. About 45 per cent of the repair division's customers are long standing, and its main markets are Singapore, Indonesia, India and Europe. The group is vertically integrated across shipbuilding, ship repair and conversion, chartering, dredge engineering and related marine services, and acquired the dredging engineering company VOSTA LMG of the Netherlands and Germany in December 2012. Its chartering fleet numbered 213 vessels at 30 June 2023.
