Port Said Engineering Works & Naval Constructions Co. (PSEWNC)

Port Said Engineering Works & Naval Constructions Co., known as PSEWNC, builds and repairs ships at Port Fouad on the eastern side of Port Said. It is a public sector company of the Suez Canal Authority, formed on 1 April 2022 when an Authority resolution merged Port Said Engineering Works Co. with Canal Naval Constructions Co.; both had been founded in 1963. The merged company still runs the older Canal Naval Constructions website. No dock is in service and a floating dock of up to 5,000 tonnes lifting capacity is planned. Lifting on site is by a 40-tonne gantry crane, a 60-tonne mobile crane and two of 20 tonnes, portal cranes of 40 and 22 tonnes, two 10-tonne and three 5-tonne overhead cranes, and a 100-tonne transporter. Plant includes three CNC plasma cutting machines, two submerged arc welding machines, four shearing machines, three pipe rolling machines, two hydraulic presses and a foundry. Building and repair work covers steel and aluminium hulls, steel structures, conversions including roll-on roll-off to passenger, and overhaul of diesel and petrol engines of up to 500 horsepower. Vessels delivered have included hopper barges, dredgers, ferries, fishing and survey boats, and floating river hotels and restaurants. As published in 2022 the workforce was more than 500, and more than 550 vessels had been delivered to the Suez Canal Authority, Egyptian port authorities and government companies.
