Oresund Dry Docks

Oresund DryDocks AB is a Swedish ship repair yard at Landskrona on the Oresund strait. Repair work has been carried on at the site for more than a century. The yard runs around the clock, every day of the year, with about 100 employees. It repairs, maintains and rebuilds ships, hulls and other steel structures; newbuilding ended after the shipyard crisis of the 1980s, when the business turned to repair and reconstruction. Two docks are in service, one dry and one floating. The complex covers 100,000 square metres, 35,000 of them roofed workshop space. Crane capacity is 180 tonnes, with 200 tonnes of lifting inside the workshops at a hook height of 19.4 metres; steel sections of up to 250 tonnes can be moved around the site and 180 tonnes lifted on and off at the quay. Shore power is supplied at 400 or 440 volts, 50 or 60 hertz, up to 2,000 amps. The yard takes ro-ro and ropax ferries, offshore units, container ships, tankers, cruise ships and icebreakers, and it carried out the world's first conversion of a ship to gas propulsion. Large steel structures are built through the sister company Oresund Steel Construction.
