Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd.

Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd., known as NACKS, is a shipbuilding joint venture of China COSCO Shipping and Kawasaki Heavy Industries at Nantong in Jiangsu, on the lower Yangtze. It has been in preparation and construction since 1995, the only founding date the company gives. The yard builds ships and takes no repair work. Two building docks are in use, one of 300,000-tonne class and one of 500,000-tonne class, served by two 300-tonne and two 800-tonne gantry cranes. Annual capacity is 2.2 million deadweight tonnes and the site covers about 1.3 million square metres. More than 270 vessels have been delivered, among them ore carriers of 300,000 tonnes, and the permanent workforce is over 2,500.
