Murakami Hide Shipbuilding

Murakami Hide Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. builds and repairs ships at Kinoura on Hakata island in Imabari, Ehime prefecture, Japan. The business was founded in August 1917 and incorporated in November 1963, with a capital of 45 million yen, and it employs 400 people including in-house subcontract workers. Newbuildings were still being launched and delivered in 2026. Newbuilding is done on the No. 5 slipway, licensed in stages up to 9,999 gross tons. Repair is done in the No. 3 dock, which the operator names as its repair dock; it was completed in July 1995 at 3,000 gross tons and relicensed to 6,200 gross tons in 2008. It is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and holds the top five-star rating under Japan's energy conservation rating scheme for domestic vessels. Kanasashi Heavy Industries is named as a group company, with no direction of ownership stated either way.
