Metalships & Docks S.A.U.

Metalships & Docks S.A.U. is a shipbuilding and ship repair yard at Vigo, in Galicia on the Atlantic coast of Spain. It belongs to the Rodman Group and runs newbuilding, repair and yacht refit as separate lines. Newbuilding is done on slipways rather than in dock. Two covered slipways take 1,800 tonnes each and can be joined into a single berth of 3,500 tonnes; two open slipways take 1,500 and 750 tonnes. Building under cover is the point of the layout, since steel and coating work on outfitting-heavy vessels continues whatever the Atlantic weather does. Cruise vessels, fishing vessels and superyachts are the current newbuilding types. The floating dock lifts 10,000 tonnes. Craneage runs from 2 to 140 tonnes, with two 25 tonne cranes on the repair berth, and a 250 tonne KAMAG transporter moves hulls and heavy sections around the site. The ship repair division has run without a break for more than 30 years and works on offshore vessels, container ships, reefers, tankers, bulk carriers, LPG carriers, fishing vessels, ferries, tugs and yachts, largely for repeat owners rather than job by job. Delivered vessels include the sailing cruise ship Sea Cloud Spirit and the offshore support vessel North Sea Giant of 2012.
