Marine Ship Repair Yard "Gryfia" J.S.C. (Morska Stocznia Remontowa Gryfia S.A.)

Morska Stocznia Remontowa Gryfia S.A. repairs, converts and builds ships at Szczecin, on the island the operator itself calls Wyspa Gryfia. Its beginnings go back to the early 1950s; no founding year is published. The company now works from a single production plant. The Swinoujscie plant is no longer a Gryfia site: the property on ulica Ludzi Morza was sold and the port authority of Szczecin and Swinoujscie exercised its pre-emption right over it on 21 December 2021. Three floating docks are in service, numbered 3, 5 and 7, lifting 5,500, 15,000 and 4,500 tonnes; dock 5 is separately rated at 16,646 tonnes for ships of the B178 series. Dock cranage runs from a pair of 5/3.2-tonne cranes on dock 7 to two of 20/6.3 tonnes on dock 5. A fourth dock, No. 8, rated at 24,000 tonnes, is under construction and is intended to replace a dock 1 that no longer appears in the operator's dock table. Quay cranage reaches 20 tonnes. Work covers emergency repair on ships of all types and sizes, from merchant vessels and passenger ferries through specialised multipurpose units to naval units, together with conversions and steel structures including offshore fabrication. Retrofit work centres on scrubbers and ballast water treatment systems, with equipment from Wartsila, Alfa Laval, Optimarin and BIO-SEA. The yard runs its own laboratory, recognised by the Polish Register of Shipping. Four icebreakers, Puma, Narwal, Nerpa and Manat, were designed, built and handed over in 2021 for RZGW Gdansk under Polish Register of Shipping supervision. Certification comprises PN-EN ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and PN-EN ISO 3834-2 from the Polish Register of Shipping, covering the manufacture and repair of ships and floating structures and the manufacture of metal structures and their parts including offshore work, together with ISO 9001:2015 and AQAP 2110 from Centrum Certyfikacji Jakosci, the latter for the design, repair and conversion of ships.
