Hellenika LLC

Hellenika LLC is a ship repair contractor on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, working at Varna and Burgas. It was founded in 1998 and employs about 200 people. It owns none of the docking structures it works on, and that governs how a job with it is set up. The slipway, rated at 4,500 tonnes and served by three 10-tonne cranes, the two rail slipways and the fitting-out quay make up the hoist and launch complex of the specialised port at Burgas, operated by Korabostroitelnitsa Burgas EOOD. The two dry dock chambers belong to Bulyard Korabostroitelna Industria EAD in the southern industrial zone at Varna. No lease, concession or terminal register entry naming Hellenika as operator of any of them has been found, so what it works on is established while the terms on which it does are not. The trades are its own. Six workshops cover machining and metalwork, piping, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, blasting and painting, and turbines, over a production base of 10,000 square metres. Mechanical work takes in engine, pump, generator and gearbox repair, crankshaft grinding and main engine and shaft line alignment; the turbine shop repairs turbochargers and balances rotors dynamically; blasting is both abrasive and hydro. Ballast water treatment systems are installed, riding squads are provided and service is offered around the clock. Work is done to classification society requirements including Bureau Veritas.
