Guangzhou Wenchong Shipbuilding & Repair Co., Ltd.

Guangzhou Wenchong Shipbuilding and Repair is a ship repair and conversion yard on Longxue Island in the Nansha district of Guangzhou. It is a China State Shipbuilding Corporation company and has traded under its present name since 1 January 2020. The site has carried a run of names under CSSC ownership. It dates itself from 1 January 2006, was renamed Guangzhou CSSC Yuanhang Dock, became CSSC Chengxi Shipbuilding (Guangzhou) in September 2014 and Guangzhou CSSC Wenchong Dock in November 2016 before taking its current name. It is a separate business from the older Wenchong Shipyard at Huangpu, an upriver yard now being vacated, whose much smaller docks and slipway are often printed under the same English name. Two graving docks are in service, the first of them given over to VLCC work and the second the larger of the pair. The yard does repair and conversion only; no newbuilding is carried on here.
