Fujian Huadong Shipyard Co., Ltd.
Fujian Huadong Shipyard repairs ships at Bili in Luoyuan County, north of Fuzhou in Fujian province, China. Work began at the site in 2011. It covers about 700,000 square metres along roughly 2,250 metres of deep-water shoreline, with some 70,000 square metres of production workshops.
Three graving docks are in service, rated for the 300,000, 170,000 and 100,000 deadweight tonne classes, so the yard takes everything from mid-range tonnage up to VLCCs and capesize bulkers. Repair berthing is arranged as six berths for 300,000 tonne class vessels. A fourth dock of wide-body proportions, rated for the 100,000 tonne class, is being built together with a further repair berth for 300,000 tonne class ships; both are expected in service by the end of 2026. A wide-body dock suits beam-limited work rather than longer vessels, which is the gap the existing three leave.
Customers come from more than 20 countries and territories, with long-running work from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong, from Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece and Cyprus, and from the United Arab Emirates.
The published job record is repair throughout. It names the bulk carriers Nord Sirius, Iron Southern Cross and Ore Noumea, the chemical tanker Eagle Express, the car carrier Grand Phoenix, the trailing suction hopper dredger Wanqingsha, and Energy Triton, BW Bauhinia, Haifang 25 and Cecilia B. A representative entry, for the Panamanian bulk carrier Nord Sirius of 41,963 gross tons and 78,095 deadweight tonnes, covers a first special survey with conventional dry docking, hold blasting and painting, and installation of a ballast water treatment system. Management systems are certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, with assessment against the Q/SY08002.1-2022 HSE standard.
