EDR Antwerp Shipyard

EDR Antwerp Shipyard, trading under the legal entity Engine Deck Repair NV, is a ship repair yard in the Port of Antwerp. It grew from a small workshop into a full-capacity yard over about twenty years and runs a 24-hour standby line. Docking is in four graving docks with repair berths alongside. The business has four arms. Ship repair and maintenance is the core. Technical supplies and a spare parts distribution centre with warehousing operate beside it, unusual for a yard of this size, and let repair work draw on stock held on site. A dedicated inland division serves river and canal vessels, and EDR Turbo is a separate turbocharger service line. An investment programme covers new warehousing, specialised workshops, dry dock and crane renewal and new offices. Recorded projects show the range of retrofit work. Ballast water treatment installations include an Alfa Laval 3.2 300 system on an LPG tanker, taken from design to activation during an intermediate survey, and an ErmaFirst 1x2000 unit rated at 210 cubic metres an hour on a 73,000 DWT tanker. Other work includes a hybrid scrubber installation on a container vessel, a full steering gear overhaul combined with the installation of IoT monitoring, an increase in reefer capacity on conventional container vessels averaging 35 per cent, and insulation work on a container ship after a boiler fire. Special surveys are handled with hull treatment and ballast water treatment preparation carried out in dock.
