CRIST S.A. is a shipyard at Gdynia in Poland, working in shipbuilding, offshore construction, steel structures and marine and civil engineering. The site covers 28 hectares. The founding agreement was signed on 9 October 1990 and the business became a joint-stock company in 2010. Four fishing vessels were delivered in 1993 and the first containership hull in 2005. In 2009 CRIST bought production facilities from the former Gdynia Shipyard, halls, a dry dock and a gantry crane, and that purchase took it into offshore construction, coastal infrastructure and vessels supporting work at sea.
The dry dock subdivides into three chambers, so several units can be worked at once. The gantry crane lifts 1,000 tonnes over a span of 153 metres at a height of 106 metres. Production halls G-502 and G-08 cover 13,617 and 13,036 square metres, the prefabrication halls G-503 and G-06 cover 8,941 and 8,604 square metres, and there are two paint shops each 120 by 13.5 metres. A pipe prefabrication line with an annual capacity of 15,000 to 20,000 tonnes was launched in 2011.
The offshore record starts with the jack-up barge THOR in 2010, the year three locks were also delivered for the port of Bremerhaven, and runs on through the wind farm installation ships INNOVATION in 2012 and VIDAR in 2013, the multi-lay pipelaying vessel CEONA AMAZON and the combi bulk vessels RUBIN and ARTIC FJELL in 2014, an offshore service vessel with X-Bow and X-Stern in 2015 and the jack-up heavy lift barge Zourite in 2016. Ferries follow: the hybrid Elektra in 2017, the live fish carrier Aqua Tromoy in 2018, the hybrid ro-pax Herjolfur in 2019, and the hybrid ferries Altera in 2022 and P 317 in 2023. From 2021 the yard has built a multifunctional pontoon and further specialised vessels for the Femern Link Contractors consortium and its immersed tunnel between Denmark and Germany.
Certification covers ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AQAP 2110, and EN 1090 and ISO 3842 through DNV. CRIST Offshore, CRIST Shipyard and CRIST Konstrukcje are wholly owned subsidiaries, with holdings of 49 per cent in Fast Gritblasting and 20 per cent in Crist Mal. Recognitions include Exporter of the Year to France in 2021 and Maritime Economy Lighthouse in 2020.
