CMR Tunisia Ship Repairs

CMR Tunisia Ship Repairs is a ship repair yard at Menzel Bourguiba in northern Tunisia. The site was built at the beginning of the twentieth century under the French protectorate as a naval repair base and arsenal, became the state-run SOCOMENA in 1963, and was privatised and upgraded in 2004. Around 400 trained workers are employed. Four graving docks are in operation and the yard takes vessels up to Panamax size. Work covers dry docking, high-pressure water cleaning of hulls, grit blasting to SA1, SA2 and SA2.5, airless painting, pipe fitting and steel plate repair, and boiler repair. Machining is done on parts of up to 18 metres, and electrical maintenance includes motor rewinding. Governors and turbochargers are overhauled, with an ABB turbocharger partnership, and the yard runs an SKF Simplex service station and a life-saving appliance service station certified by Bureau Veritas and RINA.
