Cernaval Shipyard - Port of Algeciras

Cernaval's Algeciras yard lies in the port area at Campamento, San Roque, on the Bay of Algeciras at the western end of the Strait of Gibraltar, which puts it directly on one of the busiest transit routes in the world. The operating entity is Cernaval S.A.U., and the yard is one of two run by Cernaval Group Shipyards, the other being in the Port of Malaga. What follows describes the Algeciras site alone. Docking uses two structures: a graving dock and a floating dock of 35,000 tonnes lifting capacity, which entered service in April 2020. Two lay-by berths take work afloat. Workshops cover 15,000 square metres. Hull treatment is the capability worth comparing with other ports. Dry grit blasting is permitted here, which many port authorities do not allow, and high pressure water washing is available across a 200 to 600 bar range. The rest of the scope is steel renewal, mechanical and pipe work, electrical work and heavy gear handling, with conversion and retrofit projects taken on. The yard is ISPS compliant and receives sludge and bilge water under MARPOL. Management systems are certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, and the yard holds a Safe Space certificate.
