Caribbean Drydock Company S.A.

Caribbean Drydock Company S.A. repairs ships on the eastern side of Havana Bay. It is a wholly Cuban state company within the Grupo Empresarial de Transporte Maritimo-Portuario, under the Ministry of Transport. The yard's main asset is Floating Dock No. 2, built in China under a Chinese government credit and delivered to Havana on 27 October 2019. It entered service on 24 October 2023, lifts 22,000 tonnes and docks Panamax vessels of up to 65,000 tonnes. The first ship to use it was the general cargo vessel Asela, of 3,504 deadweight tonnes. Afloat work uses seven piers. A typical vessel spends under 18 days on the blocks and 30 days in the yard in all. Steel, mechanical, electrical and pipework trades are handled in house. The approved establishment in 2024 was more than 800 people, most of them on ship repair.
