Berjaya Dockyard (Sibu) Sdn. Bhd.

Berjaya Dockyard (Sibu) Sdn. Bhd. builds and repairs vessels at Tanjung Manis in Sarawak, Malaysia, on the Rajang River about 40 km above its mouth. The site lies 7.2 km from Tanjung Manis Integrated Port and 25 km from the airport of the same name. The company was founded in 2013. Newbuilding occupies about 43,500 square metres and is limited to vessels of up to 100 metres and 5,000 deadweight tonnes. There are 21,408 square metres of open fabrication space and a covered workshop of 4,135.5 square metres, served by gantry cranes totalling 100 tonnes of lifting capacity, crawler cranes of up to 80 tonnes and two CNC cutting machines, with a 30 metre jetty. Output is utility and offshore craft: tugs and anchor handling tug supply vessels, platform supply and dynamic positioning vessels, emergency response and rescue vessels, workboats and offshore utility vessels, landing craft, and deck cargo, self-propelled and accommodation barges. Vessels are built to the rules of ClassNK, Bureau Veritas, DNV GL and the American Bureau of Shipping. The repair division was added on a further 43,400 square metres acquired in 2016. Its graving dock, begun in June 2016 and planned into service in 2019, takes vessels of up to 30,000 deadweight tonnes, well above the yard's own newbuilding limit, and is fitted with four 10 tonne towing winches and one of 30 tonnes. Repair work covers hull, machinery, propulsion, electrical, pipe, automation and cargo gear, tank and hold blasting and coating, ballast water treatment system installation, tailshaft withdrawal, stern bush and seal renewal, rudder unshipping and alignment, cathodic protection, load line and safety equipment surveys, and non-destructive testing by radiography, ultrasonics and magnetic particle inspection. The yard received the Golden Jubilee Award of the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation in 2023.
