Asyad Drydock

Asyad Drydock is the shipyard of Asyad Group at the Port of Duqm on Oman's central coast. It was Oman Drydock Company before the rebranding under Asyad, and the operator now writes the name simply as Asyad Drydock. Operations began in 2011. Repair, maintenance and conversion is the main business, and the yard takes vessels of up to 600,000 dwt. Two graving docks and a continuous quay with 9 to 10 metres of water alongside are served by fourteen sets of jib cranes and six workshops. Vessels handled include LNG carriers, VLCCs and other gas carriers, car carriers, bulk carriers, pipe layers, heavy lift ships, cruise vessels and oil tankers, and the docks also take jack-up rigs. Newbuilding is a separate and much smaller line, covering accommodation, flat and lube oil barges, tugs, landing craft, working and support boats, fishing boats and offshore support boats. Steel fabrication for the petrochemical and offshore sectors runs alongside the marine work. In 2017 the company formed a joint venture with Babcock International Group to establish Duqm Naval Dockyard, a separate entity for naval ship repair.
