Kimberley Marine Support Base KMSB operates Terminal 2 at the Port of Broome, Western Australia, a privately funded facility representing about 250 million of investment. It opened on 12 September 2025 after a 10-month build delivered on time and on budget.
One of KMSBs biggest advantages is its floating wharf. Broomes tidal range exceeds 10m, and the wharf rises and falls with the water, maintaining a consistent working height against the vessel. This provides more consistent access for crew and supports safer, more efficient cargo handling.
The terminal takes vessels up to 348m LOA on a 265m berth line. In August 2026 the MV Belle Rose loaded 45,144t of bulk minerals at an average of 458t per hour, the fastest average bulk loadout recorded at the Port of Broome. The 289m Crown Princess became the first large cruise vessel to berth overnight in Broome.
