Zhong Xing Sea-Land Engineering Co., Ltd. is a Guangzhou-based marine and offshore technical services subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industries, ultimately part of the COSCO SHIPPING Group. The company's core competencies are ship and offshore-structure non-destructive testing and hull ultrasonic thickness measurement, with field crews dispatched to vessels and rigs along the Pearl River Delta and to overseas repair locations. The technical portfolio covers conventional NDT methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant and radiographic examination, together with hull-gauging campaigns for class-renewal surveys, ultrasonic hatch cover tightness testing, watertight integrity testing of doors and penetrations, ballast water management system commissioning and service support, and class-accepted underwater hull inspection coordinated with diving partners. Remote visual inspection using drone and ROV platforms has been added in recent years; the company reported completion of its first UAV inspection project on a COSCO-managed vessel and has since extended drone-based survey work to confined-space and aloft scopes. In April 2024, China Classification Society issued Zhong Xing Sea-Land Engineering with what was reported as the first global certificate of approval for primary and secondary barrier tightness testing of membrane-type LNG containment systems on gas carriers, a niche capability supporting LNG fleet operators. The firm is a recognised service supplier of CCS and works as an approved subcontractor for the principal IACS members including RINA, ABS, BV, ClassNK, DNV, IRClass, KR and Lloyd's Register, with operations covering Guangzhou-Nansha, Yangpu and other Chinese repair clusters. NDT technicians hold Level II qualifications under recognised certification schemes such as ISO 9712 or SNT-TC-1A, and equipment is calibrated against traceable reference blocks before each campaign. Reports are issued in IACS-aligned formats with traceable inspector signatures, photographic evidence and clear acceptance criteria so that class surveyors can review and witness the work directly without rework.
