YOKOTSU (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is the Chinese subsidiary of Yokohama Tsusho Co., Ltd., a long-established Japanese specialist in the periodical inspection and servicing of marine safety equipment. The parent company, headquartered in Yokohama with a branch in Kobe, has built a reputation as a leading provider of life-saving and fire-safety equipment inspection services for the Japanese merchant fleet, and the Shanghai station extends that service network into mainland China under a licence issued by the relevant Japanese authority. From its workshop in Shanghai, the local team handles inflatable liferaft inspections, hydrostatic release unit testing, lifejacket pressure testing, immersion suit examination and lifebuoy verification, together with overhauls of conventional and totally enclosed lifeboats, rescue boats, davits and on-load release gear. Fire-safety scope includes recharging and hydrostatic testing of portable extinguishers, performance checks of CO2, foam and water-spray fixed installations, hydrostatic testing of fire hoses and hydrants, and breathing-apparatus servicing covering EEBD and SCBA sets along with pressure-vessel cylinder inspection. The Shanghai team also coordinates underwater hull inspections through approved diving subcontractors when class-acceptable in-water surveys are required during port stays. Yokotsu Shanghai is registered with the Japan Coast Guard and with the China Maritime Safety Administration as an approved liferaft servicing station, and the firm is recognised as a service supplier under several IACS societies including ABS, DNV and Lloyd's Register. Vessels calling at Shanghai, Ningbo and other Yangtze River Delta ports use the station for SOLAS-mandated annual and five-yearly servicing of life-saving and fire-fighting equipment.
