Xiamen Ship Coating Testing Station of China Shipbuilding Industry operates from Xiamen as the southern materials and coatings testing arm of the Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute, part of the broader Chinese shipbuilding research network historically grouped under China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. The Xiamen station is a professional test and verifying organisation dedicated to marine paints, offshore platform coatings, industrial protective coatings, steel structure coatings and corrosion-resistant materials for cargo oil tanks. The technical team draws on more than twenty inspectors, of whom over eighty percent hold middle-level technical titles or higher, supported by more than one hundred and fifty pieces of advanced laboratory and exposure-test equipment. Programmes cover natural marine environment exposure on Xiamen coastal racks, laboratory accelerated weathering and salt-spray simulation, universal physical and chemical performance characterisation, and quantitative determination of regulated hazardous substances in paint films. The station serves shipyards, paint manufacturers, owners and surveyors needing third-party verification of antifouling and anticorrosive systems, including PSPC ballast water tank coatings, and supports in-water survey coating condition assessments by feeding laboratory baselines to underwater inspection teams. The Xiamen Ship Coating Testing Station has been designated by the China Classification Society as a test and verifying centre for ship coatings and paintings and holds CMA and CNAS accreditations together with type-approval recognition from ABS, DNV, Bureau Veritas, Lloyd's Register, ClassNK, Korean Register, RINA and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Over four decades the station has contributed to more than eighty national standards covering marine antifouling and anticorrosive coatings, making it one of the principal coating verification laboratories in southern China.
