Established on 16 July 1998 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, Wuhan Sanlian Special Tech Co., Ltd. is a specialist ship inspection and non-destructive testing company supporting the inland waterway and river-sea shipbuilding sector along the Yangtze River. The Sanlian company's registered business scope includes ship inspection services and non-destructive testing, focused on the welding and structural verification requirements of newbuilding, conversion and repair work at the yards of Hubei Province and neighbouring provinces along the middle and lower Yangtze. Inspectors perform magnetic particle, dye penetrant, ultrasonic and radiographic examinations on hull plating welds, structural members, pressure boundaries and piping systems, supported by qualification under the relevant Chinese national NDT certification scheme and aligned with the requirements of IACS Unified Requirements for shipbuilding. For completed and overhauled vessels, engineers carry out ultrasonic hatch cover tightness testing under IACS UR Z17 and watertight integrity verification of weathertight doors, hatches and penetrations under SOLAS II-1, with examination reports retained for the life of each ship's class file. Routine NDT and remote inspection programmes are offered for in-service condition monitoring of welds, decks and bulkheads on operating tonnage, including planned campaigns aligned with five-yearly special survey cycles. The company is recognised as a service supplier by the China Classification Society, allowing the test certificates and inspection reports it issues to be accepted by attending CCS surveyors for statutory and class verifications on Chinese-flagged tonnage and foreign vessels handled at Yangtze River yards. The Sanlian team also delivers welder qualification testing, welding procedure qualification support and quality consultancy to shipyards and steel fabricators across the Yangtze River basin, helping clients meet CCS and IACS shipbuilding requirements on schedule.
