The Non-Destructive Testing Orgnization of Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co., Ltd.

The Non-destructive Testing Organization of Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co., Ltd. is the in-house inspection unit attached to Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard, a major Pearl River shipbuilding base that was merged with Guangzhou Huangpu Shipyard at the end of 2013 to form CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation group. The parent yard, located between the old and new Huangpu ports in southeastern Guangzhou, operates three docks of 25,000, 70,000 and 150,000 deadweight tons together with a 25,000 dwt slipway, builds feeder container vessels in the 1,700 to 5,600 TEU range, naval auxiliaries, special engineering vessels, offshore engineering tonnage and dredgers, and employs roughly 1,600 staff including some 1,000 engineers. Within that environment the testing organization carries out non-destructive examination of hull welds and structures, ultrasonic hatch cover testing and watertight integrity testing on new buildings, conversions and ship repairs handled by the yard and by external owners using its facilities. The Wenchong Shipyard NDT unit is recognized by the China Classification Society as a service supplier for these inspection categories on vessels classed with CCS.
