Teda Seastar Shipping Engineering Co Ltd operates from the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, serving Bohai Bay shipping and the wider Tianjin Port complex with hull, hatch cover and structural inspection services. The Seastar team's focus is on the structural-survey activities required under IACS statutory and class regimes, supporting bulk carriers, general cargo vessels, tankers and container ships during port calls and shipyard visits, with mobilisation to anchorages and quays on a 24-hour basis. Engineers and surveyors perform ultrasonic hatch cover tightness testing in line with IACS UR Z17 for grain, coal, ore and other dry-bulk trades, watertight integrity verification of weathertight doors and penetrations under SOLAS II-1, and hull ultrasonic thickness gauging for intermediate, special periodical and Condition Assessment Programme surveys on ageing tonnage. Non-destructive examination by magnetic particle, dye penetrant and ultrasonic methods is provided for weld inspection on hull structures and critical components, with phased-array and TOFD options available for selected applications. In-water hull surveys are coordinated with diving partners for examinations in lieu of drydocking, and underwater video and photographic documentation of propellers, rudders, sea chests and stern frames is supplied alongside thickness mapping. The team also undertakes NDT and remote inspection campaigns to support condition monitoring of structural members, mooring chains and other critical assets. The company is recognised as a service supplier by CCS, Lloyd's Register and ABS, ensuring that the reports it produces are accepted in statutory, class and CAP processes for vessels calling at Tianjin Xingang, Caofeidian and other Bohai Bay terminals.
