Shanghai Elihu Marine Service is an independent service house dedicated to statutory life-saving appliance, fire-fighting equipment and radio-survey support for merchant shipping. The team mobilises to vessels calling at terminals along the Yangtze River Delta, performing annual and five-yearly servicing of lifeboats, rescue boats and davit launching systems, hydrostatic load testing of falls, hooks and winches, and inflation testing and pack-up of inflatable liferafts. Fire-fighting equipment work covers recharging and pressure testing of portable extinguishers, periodical inspection of CO2, foam and water-spray fixed fire-fighting systems in machinery spaces, hydrostatic testing of fire hoses and hydrants, and hose, mouthpiece and cylinder maintenance of EEBD and SCBA breathing apparatus. Engineers also undertake GMDSS annual radio surveys in compliance with SOLAS Chapter IV, GMDSS equipment service and AIS annual inspection, together with lifting appliance and gear surveys for cargo gear and provision cranes. The Elihu team supports class-required underwater hull inspections through partner dive teams and provides Ro-Ro door and watertight integrity examination during port calls, with engineers trained on equipment from common Chinese and international LSA and FFE makers. Stock control includes hydrostatic release units, pyrotechnics, lifejackets, immersion suits and inflation-system spare parts with traceable batch records. Elihu Marine Service is listed on the Bahamas Maritime Authority's approved service provider archive and works as a recognised service supplier under ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV, the Indian Register of Shipping, Korean Register and Lloyd's Register, so the certificates and reports it issues are accepted for statutory and class purposes at the major ports of eastern China.
