Established in 2006 and based in Hong Kong, Marland Boat Service Limited is a specialist lifeboat, davit and launching-appliance service company supporting commercial shipping in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan, with extended service stations covering Korea and Singapore. Since its formation the firm has serviced more than two thousand vessels, including bulk carriers, tankers, containerships and offshore support units, and operates a dedicated workshop in Hong Kong for the inspection, repair, overhaul and load testing of lifeboats, rescue boats, davits and on-load release gear in accordance with IMO MSC.402(96) and the related guidance under MSC/Circ.1206. The team's technical scope covers annual and five-yearly thorough examinations, operational and dynamic load testing of launching appliances, examination of on-load release mechanisms, replacement of fall wires, overhaul of winch brakes and limit switches, and re-certification of LSA equipment for SOLAS Chapter III compliance. The company also services liferafts and undertakes related lifting appliance and lifting gear surveys, Ro-Ro door inspection and in-water hull surveys with diver support. Marland is authorized by most major lifeboat and davit makers as a service representative, enabling original parts replacement and warranty-compliant work, and is approved by a wide panel of flag administrations and classification societies including ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV, Indian Register of Shipping, Korean Register, Lloyd's Register and RINA.
