Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. was founded in 1951 in Zhenjiang, a long-established port and shipbuilding city on the south bank of the lower Yangtze in Jiangsu Province. The yard occupies a riverside site to the east of the Runyang Bridge covering approximately 400,000 square metres with around 700 metres of coastal line, and is capable of constructing vessels up to roughly 252 metres in length and 32 metres in breadth at a maximum draft of around 14 metres. Over its decades of operation the yard has designed and delivered more than one hundred types of modern vessels, with notable strengths in tug construction and multifunctional ASD tug deliveries that have given it a substantial share of the domestic and global ASD tug market. Alongside new-building work, Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. provides ship-repair and conversion attendance to commercial vessels calling on the Yangtze, including underwater inspection by qualified diver-technicians who carry out close visual examination of hull plating, sea chests, propellers, rudders and anode wastage on tonnage in repair. Non-destructive testing scopes cover ultrasonic, magnetic particle and dye penetrant examination of welds and structural members on tonnage in repair, with reports issued in formats accepted by attending surveyors. The yard is recognised by the Korean Register as an authorised service supplier, allowing the diving and NDT scope to be considered during periodical, intermediate and special surveys carried out on tonnage docked at the Zhenjiang facilities or attended at Yangtze anchorages and neighbouring port terminals.
