Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is a Sino-Japanese joint-venture shipyard established in May 2019 in the Taicang Port Economic and Technological Development Zone on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province. Group, with registered capital of around USD 99.9 million and total committed investment of approximately USD 299.7 million, and commenced commercial operations on 1 August 2019. Located about fifty kilometres upstream of Wusongkou and approximately eighty-five kilometres by road from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, the yard is positioned for efficient delivery and crew change logistics. Production focuses on large bulk carriers, crude and product tankers, chemical and other liquid cargo carriers, and high-specification clean-energy ships such as LNG, LEG and LPG carriers, building under ClassNK in accordance with Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding designs and Yangzijiang's manufacturing systems. In-process quality control covers ultrasonic hatch cover tightness verification on dry cargo hulls and watertight integrity testing of doors, hatches and bulkhead penetrations, with NDT applied to primary welds during block fabrication. Yangzi-Mitsui aims to integrate Mitsui's sales and engineering network with Yangzijiang's productivity to compete internationally for high-value newbuilding orders.
