Hudong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. Calibration & Testing Center is the metrology and inspection arm of Hudong Heavy Machinery, a Shanghai-based low-speed marine diesel engine manufacturer that traces its history back to 1930 and operates as a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation in joint cooperation with Mitsui E&S of Japan. The parent works builds two-stroke crosshead engines under MAN Energy Solutions and WinGD licences, including the latest ME-GI and X-DF dual-fuel series for LNG-burning tonnage, on a Shanghai site of more than 400,000 square metres that combines heavy machining, assembly and dedicated test beds. Hudong Heavy Machinery holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management certifications and type approvals from CCS, ABS, BV, LR, DNV, ClassNK, KR and RINA, with factory acceptance and type approval tests run in the presence of all eight societies. The Calibration & Testing Center supports those activities by performing ultrasonic hatch cover testing, watertight integrity testing and non-destructive examination on engine components and on hulls under CCS recognition, and by maintaining the measuring instruments used across the Shanghai engine works and at the WinGD W-Xpert Full Mission Simulator hosted at the Marine Power Academy on the same campus.
