CIMC Offshore Engineering Institute Co. Ltd. is the offshore R&D arm of Yantai CIMC Raffles Ocean Technology Group, the offshore engineering platform under China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd., and is based in Yantai, Shandong Province. Recognised as a national offshore oil energy drilling rig research centre, the institute employs around 800 engineers and serves as a PhD practice base for Harbin Institute of Technology. Work programmes cover ultra-deep-water and Arctic offshore engineering, with the team developing floating offshore wind platform designs marketed under the T-Floater and D-Floater names. Sister entities within the group, including Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. and Haiyang CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd., build the resulting semisubmersibles, jack-ups, and floating production units at the group's Yantai and Haiyang yards. CIMC Offshore Engineering Institute also coordinates green supply chain practices and carbon reduction work programmes across the group's design portfolio, contributing engineering, design and project management capacity to the wider CIMC Raffles offshore industry network.
