China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. is a major Chinese ship repair and marine engineering yard located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Merchants Industry Holdings, part of the China Merchants Group that traces its shipping and logistics activity back to 1872. The Shenzhen facility serves international shipowners, fleet managers, oil and gas operators, and naval architects with drydocking, hull and structure repair, machinery overhaul, conversion, and specialty newbuild work across a broad vessel range.
The shipyard can accommodate vessels up to four hundred and fifty metres in length and operates seven graving and floating dock positions used for ship repair, retrofit, and conversion projects. Marine technical services delivered or coordinated through the yard include hatch cover ultrasonic tightness testing on bulk carriers and general cargo vessels, watertight integrity verification for hatches, doors, and other closing appliances, underwater inspection of hulls and submerged fittings, and non-destructive testing of structural members, welds, and machinery components. The yard also handles specialty heavy steel fabrication, large mechanical and electrical installation work, and project management of long-term contracts for offshore and naval vessels.
Operations at the CMHI Shenzhen yard are aligned with the principal classification society survey regimes, with field recognition under the China Classification Society and the Korean Register of Shipping among others. The yard's South China location at Mawan-Shekou gives shipowners reach to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and the wider Pearl River Delta port cluster, supporting both planned periodic survey work and unscheduled emergency repair calls that require deep technical capacity.
