Alatas Shanghai Co., Ltd. is the Chinese arm of an international specialist in marine and offshore lifting equipment service, inspection, and repair. Based in Minhang District of Shanghai, the team supports vessel owners, shipyards, and offshore operators across Chinese ports and the wider Asia-Pacific region, working alongside the group's worldwide network that includes locations in Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, and Norway.
The Shanghai operation focuses on crane load testing and certification, condition surveys for shipboard cargo gear, deck cranes, provision cranes, davits, and pedestal lifting appliances, along with troubleshooting and repair of damaged or out-of-service equipment. Engineers perform proof load tests using calibrated water bags and load cells, non-destructive examination of structural welds and load-bearing components, dimensional inspection, and wire rope testing. The workshop also handles overhauls of slewing rings, winches, hydraulic systems, and electrical controls, and supplies spare parts sourced from major crane original equipment manufacturers.
Service work is delivered under Lloyd's Register classification approval together with wider IACS recognition under Unified Requirement Z17 for the survey, repair and testing of lifting appliances. Additional qualifications include the Norwegian Maritime Authority B-1 approval, API 2D, the LEEA membership scheme, LOLER, ILO 152, and the quality and environmental management systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001. This combined framework allows the Alatas team to certify lifting equipment under most international flag state and classification regimes, supporting deep-sea tonnage as well as offshore production units and drilling rigs that call at Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao, Shenzhen, and other principal Chinese ports.
