Karberg & Schmitz GmbH was founded back in 1960 by Erik Karberg and Walther Schmitz, starting out with a small but growing list of clients along the North and Baltic Sea coasts. Over 60 years later, the company is still going strong, operating out of Hamburg-Altona - a part of town that’s long been home to major shipowners and ship management companies. That location has helped them stay connected to the industry on a personal level, and it’s still where they handle all their sales and project coordination today. Their service isn’t limited to supplying products. The company handles everything from planning, consulting, and engineering of system solutions to on-site support during installation and warranty periods. Clients working with Karberg & Schmitz know they can also count on the team for global repairs and spare parts service, no matter where the vessel is operating. A second service station is located in Dernbach, more central within Germany, where a mobile team focuses on river cruise liners. This setup allows them to cover both inland and maritime operations with the same level of responsiveness and care. In 2008, their efforts promoting Danish products abroad were officially recognized with the “Diploma of the Danish Export Association and His Royal Highness Prince Henrik’s Medal of Honour” - a prestigious award only given to a small number of international partners each year since 1982.
